DSCOMIC.COM.... up and running, sortof

Here is the extraordinarily-buggy initial version of the December Sun Webcomic, served up through Wordpress that I installed in my MySQL account with 1&1. What an ordeal, but a great learning experience so far.

My gameplan at this point is to start with a daily run through issue #1 of December Sun, with segments of each page displayed daily, with the occasional Lucas tweak and fix, and along the way, revisiting some deleted pages. As I go through this, I'm going to be reconfiguring and redesigning the site, and eventually I'll post all of my setup notes here, in case anyone wants to do something like this.

Good luck. Hey, is hey wearing a Bruce Lee-esque track suit?

Thanks man. The suit is actually based on a modified biker suit I saw ages ago, with a white stripe up the side. Deliberately simplistic, and this feature serves as a point of ridicule later in the book by bad guys (i.e. no cape, no costume, etc.)

You know, one of the things that really motivated me to kick off the daily webcomic (more than just getting a lucrative Hollywood offer for the script... :) was the guy from 6th grade... I think his name was Doug? We'd do our comics, and he had his own comic that he sortof did at his own speed in a notebook, and he was really good, very detailed, and just worked privately on it (maybe just for his own enjoyment?) I remember asking him once if he wanted to do some comics in McHenry's class and have them on the board with ours, but he was always just content to work on them privately, almost, I guess, for his own enjoyment.

Today, thinking back to that, there was a lot of wisdow there: he found contentment in making his own comic and working on it a little bit at a time. I'm sortof trying something like that here, but sharing it online with (whoever?) stumbles across it.
